Aside from the drugs, Hendrix went downhill when he forced Redding and Mitchell out. They were never hard-core rockers, but were PERFECT to fill for him. Saw him at Sun Devil Gym, 2000 people, circa 68 and he was breathtaking.
So I was surprised to see Robert Christgau rate the post-'68 albums so high.
