I can’t imagine any other republican doing something like this. Jeb would have already been on vacation for the last 2 or 3 weeks, maybe doing a few fundraisers. He would have NEVER called Clinton a “world class liar”, or exposed her corruption, because he and his family are just as corrupt. Cruz had already announced he’d stick strictly to the issues, in other words, lose with dignity.
Now that Trump has taken a blowtorch to Clinton’s a$$, he needs to keep the heat on, and make it unbearable for her. Her and her campaign’s feeble response was essentially saying, “I am not a crook”.
