Technically, Cheney should not have been Dubya’s running mate in 2000, as they were both residents of Texas, and Cheney had to scramble to change his residency back to Wyoming (which he hadn’t really resided in since he left Congress a decade earlier).

If Trump wants to groom his children for the Presidency, he needs to urge them to run for Governor or Senator from different states (NY and CA).

He wants then to take over the business when he is gone, with Ivanka in charge.

OTOH, he thinks that his s-i-l, Jared, should be in politics.

I don't know when Ivana became an American citizen, so that might be a real problem for Trump's kiddos.

Cheney maintained a second home in Jackson, WY and was a taxpayer there. He only needed to change his voting registration.

There’s nothing wrong with having Prez and VP both from the same state.

Constitution says electors have to vote for Prez and VP, only one of which can be from elector’s home state. In Bush and Cheney’s example, electors from every state but Texas are fine. Electors from Texas could vote for Bush, but would vote for Sununu ? for VP. No one having majority of electoral votes for VP, the House would choose with each state getting one vote. They’d pick Cheney.
