Very few elected GOP politicans have endorsed Trump. Picking Sessions as VP would be a slap in their direction and give the ticket some beltway gravitas.

I'm not too sure that is accurate. I think that most GOP members of Congress have endorsed Trump. It's just that this year there is a significant number of them who either have not done so yet or have flat-out refused.
