It’s not just the availability of generation capacity, it’s also about the lack of growth in the power grid to deliver it. I’m glad I live in Texas where we have our own power grid that is not connected to the rest of the country.

I wonder if they’re selling the power to Colorado. They’ve done that in the past. While there was a supposed shortage in Cali, complete with brown outs and black outs, the power was being sold to other places.

And then we learned of an illegal conspiracy that the participants laughed about at that time.

That’s not entirely true. Texas CAN separate from the grid, but are usually connected nationally. Also, our grid is not as robust as you might think. A lot of the Golden Spread is not serviced by the state grid, but comes from NM and OK.
