Reunions and reenactments started fairly quickly after the war ended. It was one of the things that healed the nation of its great wounds. There are not many places on this good earth that such would have happened. You can look all over the world and find places where old hatreds are still fanned after many hundreds of years.

It’s one of the things that makes me proud to be an American.
