A few years ago, it would have been a reasonable expectation by most people. Today, it takes courage to utter such things as to expect people to abide by the values of the nation. Ones that kept them, anyway.
He flew Royal Navy helicopters carrying Royal Marine commandos for a number of years. Britain was at peace at the time so he was never called on to fight for his country, but he was more than prepared to do so as a Naval officer if he was called on to do so.
