Culturally it is not easy, as one evangelist to Islamic communities in the USA has shared with me.

Donald paints with a broad brush. There are doubtless ex-Muslims who have walked off the reservation, maybe in part because the reservation flatly rejected them.

I think of one of my co-workers, a Lebanese chap who originally spoke Arabic, who said he got kicked out of religion school when he got a little too smart with the teachers... said that trying to figure out God was like trying to divide zero by zero... this sounds like an independent thinker. There’s nothing in the dogmatism of Islam to keep such a soul.

But given the option to stay on that reservation, will they want to be part of the “Great Satan”? Simple common sense suggests no.
