The Virginia Tech murderer killed 32 people with handguns. Two terrorists, acting together as at San Bernardino, would be able to kill 64 people.

If so-called "assault weapons", which are simply semi-automatic rifles, were banned, the terrorist killings would continue just the same.

Disarming ourselves would be the height of stupidity and would bring laughter to our enemies. One hundred thirty-nine were killed in Paris. If we were to adopt gun laws like France, we would see the same results.

The killing never stops until a law-abiding person with a gun stops it. When that person is a cop, it is far too late to prevent a massacre.

While it's only a movie, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" contains a scene where John Clees's character is trying to rescue what he thinks is a fair maiden from being forcibly married to someone she's not in love with. He butchers a couple of dozen innocents with a sword, only to get to the tower and find that the "fair maiden" who wrote the letter that brought him to the castle is actually a gay man.

My point is that someone who took a couple of leaf springs out of a delivery truck, straightened them, sharpened them, and attached a hickory hoe handle at one end, could do a tremendous amount of damage in a place where no one is armed. And no permits or government background checks needed.

The fact that the assailants are using “assault weapons” at all shows they are basically working from the media’s script. There are far more effective weapons far more easily available for the purpose of killing large numbers of people in a limited area. I won’t enlighten them on this forum, but anyone actually familiar with firearms can figure it out.
