Here’s my reason: I want one (or more). Since the right to keep and bear arms is a pre-political right - it pre-dates the very existence of this nation - it is not subject to regulation or abridgement by the government. In fact, there’s a rather well known provision in the Bill of Rights that is a REMINDER to everyone of this fact. Note that it isn’t a grant of rights, it is a SPECIFIC restriction on government action.

I would argue that, based on this statement, the 2nd Amendment actually applies to everyone on the planet.
