Moulton also says assault weapons have no place on our streets. My response: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/06/obama_democrats_perpetuate_assault_weapon_falsehoods.html

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), meanwhile, subordinated his past honorable service as a Marine officer to party politics with the following statement. "I carried guns every day in Iraq, guns very similar to the ones used to perpetrate the Orlando murders and many other mass shootings in America." As shown above, it is absolutely illegal for a private citizen to acquire fully automatic firearms like the ones Moulton carried in Iraq without a background check and a federal permit.

Reid's and Moulton's deliberate obfuscation of semiautomatic rifles and assault rifles is entirely consistent with the Violence Policy Center's openly stated agenda to deceive the American public, and with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt money in the bargain.

With an ongoing invasion of hundreds, if not thousands, of ISIS operatives dribbling in over our borders, we certainly DO have a reason to own some serious weaponry of our own.

They also have no reason to criticize the government or expect freedom!

No ‘reason to own’ the article claims. Citizens need no reason, period. It is a citizen’s inalienable right to own the firearm. End of argument.

Switzerland! Virtually half the country owns guns. Big nasty guns that these guys hate. And it has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire world. It’s true. I guess I’ll have to move there if this madness about destroying our rights doesn’t stop. Sad.

The Second Amendment doesn’t say you have to justify and have a “good reason” — as defined by whom?! — to own a weapon.

Blaming the weapon and trying to prevent law abiding citizens from exercising their constitutional rights needs to stop.

Go after the criminals, not the tools they happen to use.

Thank you for your service, Congressman, but don’t perpetuate the assault weapons lie, please.

If you don’t want one.... don’t buy one. Not all laws in every state need to reflect what you do and do not want to own.

I call BS on this

Even in the Air Force where I server 20 years it was a RIFLE calling it a gun got you dirty looks and a correction

Marines I have known consider calling a RIFLE a gun an unforgivable sin

That is no Marine talking

There has always been and there will always be an underlying current in the Military that does not think anyone should have a gun except them and those they approve of to have a weapon.

I get so sick of this “on our streets” crap, like they are lying around on the asphalt like land mines or something.

For this arsehole to use his service to further political ambitions is sick. I carried one daily as well, before he was born, but I do not use that fact for personal advantage.

If I was to be armed now, it would be to prevent those like him from imposing their will on me and depriving me of my rights.

When we have as many Leftists in unison tell us that we don't need assault weapons, believe me, we definitely need assault weapons. . . .

Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.- Daniel Webster

Only an officer would come up with this stuff. I’m surprised he didn’t say enlisted men shouldn’t have assault weapons.

From Federalist #8, Alexander Hamilton writes:

"But though the scheme of disciplining the whole nation must be abandoned as mischievous or impracticable; yet it is a matter of the utmost importance that a well-digested plan should, as soon as possible, be adopted for the proper establishment of the militia. The attention of the government ought particularly to be directed to the formation of a select corps of moderate extent, upon such principles as will really fit them for service in case of need. By thus circumscribing the plan, it will be possible to have an excellent body of well-trained militia, ready to take the field whenever the defense of the State shall require it. This will not only lessen the call for military establishments, but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens. This appears to me the only substitute that can be devised for a standing army, and the best possible security against it, if it should exist."
If you, Mr. Marine, have an assault rifle, that alone is enough reason for others to have one, too.

-PJ
