Well duh. The ozone hole is over Antarctica. All of the cold air is rushing out the hole, and passes by the thermometer as it leaves, never to be seen again. And all of the hot air stays behind. (Hot air rises, so all of the cold air sinks to the south - look at a map!).
BTW - the poor ozone hole doesn’t seem to get much press lately. Somebody needs to call their promotional agent.
