"I don't believe I have EVER seen the US Congress seriously consider ANY sensible legislation regarding firearms."
At this point, the only sensible legislation would:
- Establish that carry, both open and concealed, would be legal in every state, unless the state required a permit for carry.
- Require that any carry permit system be non-discretionary, with objective standards for issuance.
- Require that every state recognize every other states' carry permits.
- Require that any public venue that chose to ban guns must:
- Control access, with security and metal detectors at every entrance.
- Provide armed security, to protect those that their policies have disarmed.
- Provide secure storage for the firearms of visitors who are not being allowed to enter.
Repeal the National Firearms Act (1934)
Repeal the Gun Control Act (1968)
Repeal the Hughes Amendment (1986)
