Legendary reporter Bob Woodward says Donald Trump is taking a harsher stance against The Washington Post than even President Nixon did during the Watergate scandal.
"The Nixon White House did not formally pull press credentials of the Post" when the newspaper was reporting on the scandal that eventually forced Nixon to resign, Woodward said Tuesday, according to NBC News.
He added that Nixon did exclude the Post from covering social events at the White House, though.
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Monday said he was revoking The Washington Post's press credentials over the newspaper's "dishonest reporting."
"Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record-setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post," he wrote in a Facebook post.

It’s funny how the same posters who, I imagine, wouldn’t hear a word against Mitt Romney in ‘12 will similarly defend this GOP candidate regardless of his missteps.
These guys can point the finger at Trump all they want, it just makes them hypocrites.
Ummmm....yes!
You are correct but Trump needs to hone and articulate these counter attacks better.
How many republican/Conservatives are seated in the White House Press corp? Hint, none.
I can’t believe the Trump Campaign hasn’t pointed out how Obama went after all the press he didn’t like. Maybe someone should remind people how Obama treated press he didn’t like. It’s hard to argue facts.
Almost as bad as taking a few hundred million from the oil rich Muslim countries for making a speech.
Nixon really did leave office broke unlike the Clintons.
Anybody who thinks Woodward is a real journalist is smoking something they should share with the entire group. PC to the max, Woodward is loved in Washington, D.C. because he brought down a Republican President.
Oh, has anybody spoken to "deep throat" lately?
if you see craigslist ads for “genuine White House furniture” you will know that the number you’ll be calling is Hillarity’s private blackberry
“Bob Woodward: Even Nixon didn’t ban Post during Watergate”
...and where did that get Nixon. Besides being effectively removed from office, he was also looked at, by the left, as being one executive order away from declaring martial law and becoming an instant dictator. So again, was the left saying: “Oh, no, don’t worry, Nixon hasn’t banned the media, he won’t be a dictator” Nope, JUST THE OPPOSITE, they were not about to give him the benefit of the doubt, no friggen way.
So, same here, no downside for what Trump’s doing, none at all.

>> “The Washington Post is dishonest. They are Clinton stooges and will tell any lie to see that Clinton wins.” <<
An obvious fact.
.
>> “Yall arent ever going to have Trump to kick around!” <<
Are you sure that is the line to invoke here?
Do you believe Trump will walk away a loser as Nixon did when he uttered those words?
.
We know what Woodward is.
Disregard him.
The game has changed considerably since your day, Bob.
Bob’s stuck in 1974.
The Watergate break-in was a John Dean operation from the very start to get the DNC’s Black Book of Hookers that included the name of his future wife.
Woodward/Bernstein’s version never reported that fact.
The goal of the leftists was to get Nixon - a strong anti-Communist - at any cost.
That said, Nixon made the mistake of trying to protect his lieutenants.
As an aside, Bernstein was/is a radical leftwing communist whose parents were also radical leftwing communists. I’ve had personal interaction (in my business on phone and in person) with Bernstein. A nasty, vile man.
Many years ago I read the book “Silent Coup: The Removal of a President”, eye opening book and mind boggling. So many facts that were never revealed or reported on at the time.
Now we have poor Bob Woodward claiming that Nixon did not rescind credentials, maybe he should have. There is no doubt that reporters and/or organizations have had their credentials pulled at one time or another. Now I was lead to believe it was only one reporter they kicked out, but even if it was all of the Post reporters, fine then.
Nixon was not truly broke, he had some bonds and a lot of real estate. He did write a lot of books to make money. Never took a dime for any speech he gave, just travel expenses, he gave up SS protection and paid for his own. He had one security guy that traveled with him.
His single biggest expense was Legal Fees that were ongoing most of the rest of his life.
