> Ever heard of “weak kneed” preachers?
Yeah stop bein wusses. That history occurred long in a time when people were so busy they didn’t have time to sit around and worry about what to whine about next or attention or post stupid Facebook posts from 100 different angles. Damn we live in an age of whiney baby wusses.
They should be more concerned with souls than flags.
While I do not believe Jesus would be an advocate for slavery today, I do believe that the presence of the passages are sufficient enough that the Southern Baptist Convention should have kept its nose out of this fight.
It would be merely a small step over thin line for Obama to denounce all Christians as being a "radical extremist" group supporting slavery based on their own teachings.
What’s the Southern Baptist Convention’s position on Joel Osteen, who heads the largest church in America—Lakewood church—and who preaches a heresy: the prosperity gospel?
Oh yea nothing, because half the churches in the Souther Baptist Convention teach the prosperity gospel.
This Confederate flag thing is another example of VIRTUE SIGNALING. It’s probably a sign that the SBC (at least at the upper ranks) has been infiltrated by SJWs (social justice warriors). A bad sign.

And I know two baptist fifteen year olds in Minnesota who have the confederate flag and General Lee as wall paper on their cell phones, on t-shirts and posters. They are running to that symbol because they see it as representing freedom from an oppressive government.
Gotta love homeschooling for preventing ignorance and indoctrination.
Embracing slander for worldly comfort. A lamp is flickering low right now.
Their leadership appears willing to worship the images that move and speak
(i.e. deceiving MSM and corrupt politicians using PC garbage spewing 7x24 from that alter in every living room in America called a television or flat-screen)
There was a time not so long ago that Southern Baptists stood up lockstep against such evil,
Take away history and you are doomed to repeat it. The world criticizes ISIS for destroying historical sites yet our politicians and organizations do likewise and we sit quietly. We are truly turning into sheeple.
Might as well just submit to Islam, considering what pathetic, spineless wusses they’ve obviously become.
I wouldn’t have expected this of them several years back. But it does indeed seem that all of America has become a nation of cowering wimps. If any foreign adversaries are looking at us now, we’ve certainly been telegraphing that as a nation we’re a weak house of cards, ready to plowed under by the slightest breeze.
Declining membership going on 10 years straight, they must be trying to appeal to liberals...
“The resolution, passed at the predominantly white conventions annual meeting in St. Louis, calls for Southern Baptist churches to discontinue displaying the Confederate flag as a sign of solidarity of the whole Body of Christ.
Doesn’t sound so bad to me. I’ve never been in a SBC church that flew a Confederate flag, nor do I know why any would. Seems like it would be a good way to drive folks away from the gospel.
Nor is it binding on any SBC church. So what’s the beef?
The proper response would be for Churches to withdraw from the Southern Baptist Convention.
The SBC should be concerned with souls, not flags.
I’m really disgusted with this!
With ALL the fronts we are fighting, they have to bring up THIS......
Talk about divisive!........Baptist churches on practically every corner in every Southern town will now take sides!
And it won’t be pretty!
Believe me, even though the Civil War ended 151 years ago.....
....down here people still revere their ancestors and Southern traditions.
You’re going to see those flags pop up everywhere.
ScotsIrish Appalachia strongholds exist and they are a stubborn and proud people.
I can say that because I am one!
Why couldn’t this convention have been more concerned with lost souls....
.....instead of stirring dissension.
This was an attempt by SJWs to discredit the SBC if they refused to deal with the issue. They took the correct action.
Trump said it should be banned too.

I have been a member of SBC churches in North MS all my life and have never seen the Confederate battle flag flown in s single one or even spoken about. Aren’t there more pressing issues?
