Your fingers must be longer than mine ...
I simply cannot control my S&W 629 with the standard wooden stocks on. It rolls back in my hands and the cylinder release tears up my thumb. One of the old geezers at the range saw me getting frustrated with it, and told me about Pachmayr ... Bless the old man, it was just what I needed. Same pistol, same full strength loads, but easy to control. This was about 25 years ago ...
I had a one-piece Pachmayr on a Browning 9mm and it was nice but went back to the wood stocks. Dad gave me the gun that way, reminds me of him.
I put Ahrends boot grips on my Model 29 (4” barrel). Still hurts with full power 44 Mag loads, but fun to shoot using loads giving 950-1000 fps to a 240 grain bullet.
I don’t own an AR-15, but I qualified using an M-4. It is a sweet shooting little gun. Not sure how anyone could complain about its “recoil”, unless it is to complain it doesn’t have enough!
