I've got one of those Navy Arms .45-70 Mausers.I can stand some recoil,but that thing is at my upper limit.It is a one shot boar killer and that's it's only redeeming quality.

I would have been better off getting a complete conversion but tried to get by on the cheap. I knew it would probably require some action work. Before doing it tho I wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t feed the 45-70 as is.

I already had a Siamese Mauser I had bought several years earlier for almost nothing. I had a good barrel put on the action by E.R. Shaw. The barreled action fit the original stock but as I mentioned, it kicked like a mule mostly because of the stock design.

It would only feed the top round reliably. I had decided to go ahead and have a gunsmith do the work but ended up selling it at a gun show.

The actions were made in Japan and everyone says they were extremely strong. Probably could stand really powerful loads.
