Here is the comment on the son/parents from the transcript. It does not state the son was born in Afghanistan:

Thank you. I thought what I heard DJT say, did not speak to Afghanistan as being the killer’s birthplace, but was not 100% sure. I chastise myself for not being more assertive from an instinctual standpoint. Glad that you have the facts at hand.
