Back in high school in the late 60s I grew a handsome marijuana plant in the back yard. About five feet high and bushy. Provided plenty of pot for my friends and me. Too much, probably.

Over time even this mild pot went from making me laugh and enjoy music in a sort of timeless space to eventually making me feel paranoid. You couldn’t pay me enough to get me to take a hit of pot again. I suspect that our current infatuation with it is going to end badly.

Yes if I were to smoke I’d prefer medium grade early sensemilla bud in the low teens potency

Something where two folks could split a jay and enjoy a few hours

In Colorado you can buy oil cartridge pens with 500 mg of oil which is around 50 serious doses

But you can calibrate it down to one mg puffs

That seemed to me and easy way to ease into it

I always had a high tolerance to intoxicants

I took 200 bong hits of Oxacan wife beater foxtail buds once at Ole Miss on a Monday nite football game every time Meredith would pick on Howard

Another but...,I know 75 year olds that have smoked since Jazz that can smoke oil all nite so actually it not really age dependent

While in colorado I went to three shops and talked to educate my business knowledge including the owners

One in Trinidad..,,the big green one on 25 east side on the hill

Another in Pagosa Springs

And in Aspen where I have friends in the business

Oil vape apparatus and edibles and junk like t shirts and accessories are about half the business

The other half is medium to high grade seedless weed ranging from 12-28% THCA

and they charge for it

20/gram in the rural towns

Maybe 12-15/gram in Denver

Very little break if you buy an ounce and some places don’t sell ounces

Those are high prices....560/ounce

Same weed in Nashville black market is 300-400/ounce

Michigan 150-200/ounce

Washington state is about like Colorado but production is highly regulated

Oregon just went legal but up till then weed was around 150/ounce

Sw Oregon is serious weed country....without it timber folks would have faded away completely

Ditto NorCal which is about the same

Colorado is pretty wide open and has all facets including now Cargill in a huge investment near Pueblo

If Trump is elected and allows federal medical or decrim then this will have been the Golden Age

The big boys can grow decent enough weed for very cheap and lord knows what their talent would be with oil or edibles

Boutique growers might occupy a niche like Tennessee Clear white liquor does now

I haven’t smoked since 91 but if wifey wanted to I would

I’m fairly up to date production though

Colorado weed explosion will be studied one day for many reasons but I’d ask weed haters to contrast that with the prohibition liquor days of windfall profits like weed is now

Pot dispensaries don’t shoot it out with one another

I like the taste of booze but I detest the ills abuse brings having dealt with it so much

It’s far far more detrimental

People here hate west coast smokers just as an impression

In Dixie it ain’t like that

Most of my friends in my 30s-70s drink and smoke weed a little or a lot

All were Trump or Cruz

The reason I ask is because most folks like me can easily grow 2nd rate pot.

Previously we’d never be able to sell it because hey, it sucked.

However, all these edibles have altered the market. 2nd rate pot can easily be made into strong and high end edibles.
