My first day of Basic Training in 1972 two Puerto Ricans walked by me having a conversation in Spanish. I said to the guy next to me "Them Meskins must be on speed, I never heard one talk that fast."

I got a quick lesson, PRs DO NOT like to be called Meskin.

I worked with a guy from Italy who’s fluent in Spanish. The guy told me Messicans speak street Spanish that’s tantamount to ghetto English.
