I think it is more than that. I've seen mentions of a lesbian nanny who molested her.
I do not know much about Cher's son, but I seem to recall that he turned out okay. If Cher was such a bad parent, wouldn't both kids have been royally messed up?
To be honest with you, I didn’t even know Cher had another kid.
He is the Son of a hard partying Southern Rocker. No way he would have anything but testosterone flowing through him.
They sent the boy, Elijah Blue Allman, to boarding school at age 7. According to Wikipedia, he started doing drugs at age 11, obtaining them from Harlem when visiting his mother Cher in New York. Years of heroin addiction followed. He is 40 years old. He had a band, but hasn't issued a recording for 9 years. He also had a near-fatal case of Lyme disease, not helped by a weakened immune system due to drugs. He did get married recently to an opera singer, but after the couple lived with Cher for awhile, they ended up not speaking. Cannot imagine how his father Greg Allman's recent death has affected him.
One good thing is that through his father he has four step-siblings from the American south, so there's a path to sanitysuch as Scots-Irish-American rock'n'roll families define sanity, that is. Cher's ex and father of her son, Greg Allman, was married seven times total. His father, a WWII veteran, had been shot and killed by a hitchhiker when Greg was a baby, so Greg and his brother were raised by a self-sacrificing single mom whom Greg failed to appreciate until too late. His only brother, Duane, with whom he had a band and did many drugs, died age 24 in a motorcycle crash.
Then, of course, the media has been full of the stories of Elijah Blue's half-sister Chastity becoming his half-brother. That Cher's son is still alive after such a history of pathology is astounding. But "turned out okay"? Jury is still out. Hope he finds Jesus.
