Trump Gets It. The GOP Doesn't
American Thinker ^ | June 10,2016 | Sally Zelikovsky

But we don’t. Instead of explaining our candidate, rallying behind him, and jumping aboard the Trump train, we call him a racist and jump on the politically correct, anti-Trump bandwagon -- which, by the way, is engineered and steered by the Democrat-Media Complex. No rational being can possibly expect that bandwagon to take us all the way to the White House.

And herein lies the rub -- it is the very ineptitude of Republicans articulating our principles and policies and their failure, once elected, to implement the policies promised during campaigns, coupled with all of the politically-correct backtracking they do in an effort not to be criticized by the Democrat-Media Complex, that is responsible for the rise of Donald Trump in the first place.

And this leads to my final query: are Republicans deliberately undermining this nominee because they truly believe 4-8 years of Hillary is better than 4-8 years of Trump? Are Republicans really that stupid? Or, by doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, are they just nuts?

As much as the eGOP has tried to get Trump out of the race, it goes to show just how pissed off Americans in that nothing is shaking their support for Trump.

Trump probably wonders from time to time what in “tarnation” he got himself into. “Politics! Lies! Cowardice! Blech!”

But the fate of a nation is embroiled in it, and dog his cat, he cares.

Yes. At least as far as their pocketbooks are concerned. Even a child molesting pauper like Dennis Hastert can emerge from the sewage a multi-millionaire after a few short years.

"because they truly believe 4-8 years of Hillary is better than 4-8 years of Trump?"

When you consider that question from the perspective that Republicans care more about the party and the power it gives them, than they do about the country, the answer isn't really difficult. Of course they would love to have all the power, but if it comes to protecting their donor class or supporting someone who might not, they will go with their donors.

The Democrats want the Republicans as a fig leaf.

Trump is doing things more like the traditional view of American politics.

If you really think about it, it seems the “republican” party has really been led by democrats calling themselves republicans just for that purpose...I know we all say RINO, but I think it is correct...

It seems there is a true UNIPARTY...

Trump just came in unexpectedly and has upset their plans...

People are seeing the real collusion and are pissed!!!!

GO TRUMP!!!!!

Look how the GOP has retreated from Obama and tackling liberalism, and gave him everything. Just wait till the GOP screws up Trumps campaign, and then rolls over on its back for eight years during a Hillary Presidency. If you think Merkel has damaged Germany, just wait and see how much Hillary will damage USA.

The author missed an underlying dynamic, that the GOP prefers to be the minority party, and is literally indifferent about winning the presidency.

Of course it has to put on an act that it stands in opposition to the DEM party, otherwise the charde of voting would be exposed, and the public would become restive.

Seems Americans think some kind of magic rests on the political class, that they only have to really want it in order to be able to walk on water.

What this class has actually done is vastly waste the resources of what was an enormously blessed land.

Trump isn’t even so much about making America great again as about stopping the things that are, like the natives of Lilliput, tying this giant down.

The corruption spans far and wide.

These are our choices:

Either we elect Trump and begin the long and painful process of returning our country to the land of the free; the home of the brave, Or

Fail to elect Trump and begin the long and painful road to tyranny and serfdom.

I’m afraid the road is not long. We are almost there.

Massive case of Groupthink IMO.

They have absolutely no respect for the citizenry and seem to have this strange idea that awarding government contracts to their friends, and engaging in insider trading somehow makes them entrepreneurs, or something.

I think when new representatives show up the leadership goes through a process of “breaking” them in order to keep the whole scheme going.

These are the same people who pat themselves on the back for being so clever that Congress can year after year have approvals in the low teens without being in any danger of being answerable to the voters.

Trump is about the best rebellion that this place can practically muster.

FR likes to talk tough, but hardly anyone gives two hoots because it is not larger America, not even close.

A centrist is needed to harness the remaining political forces that have a semblance to sanity, and Trump is that centrist. He looks radical because things have gotten so looney in the last few years.
