There are a lot of things that were invented for military use by private contractors that later someone in private industry figured out there was a civilian market.

This includes canned food, guns, tang, computers, the Internet, the Jeep, microwave ovens, the chariot (which led to the car), GPS, longitude, maps and a host of other things.

The key here is that no, the government did not create them and the government did not manufacture them and the government did not bring them to the open market.

The flip side of the statement being made by the EX-speaker (There is a God!) is that Rep.Pelosi & President Obama & the Leftists (Democrats) has been systematically and deliberately DEFUNDING the very areas of the Government that she credits with these advances. Instead they divert money into the ever widening maw of welfare and social change. Their interest is in dependent voters and ever larger bureaucracy, that keeps them elected!
