Reid said the man is presumed dead because he has yet to be found, "the recovery process is very difficult because of the hazards of the environment,” said Reid.

Reid said the man is in his 20s, but she would not identify the man or where he is from. The man reportedly walked about 225 yards off the board walk before falling in to the hot spring.

The springs are known to reach temperatures that would be deadly to humans on contact.

Tragic event. Other reports indicate he was with his sister, though not clear if she left the boardwalk. I was a 20 something too, even a teenager. But I fail to understand how even kids over the age of 8 or so ignore the copious signs about the geysers, the buffalo, the bears when they're ithe threats are within eyesight.

If Yellowstone park was owned by a private individual and they opened it up to tourist the federal government would impose so many restriction on it they would go out of business.

You're correct, lots of parks. Admission would be more than Disney, have to pay the trial lawyers.

“...told us about a dog that had jumped into a hot spring. They don’t try to rescue you.”

They did not tell you the whole story.

I live just north of YNP and when I was in college here (Bozeman) that’s when the dog jumped into a pool - and the owner jumped in to save the dog as it was yelping like crazy.

Both were DOA.

Nature is brutal.

I suggest he was a biologist and went to a pristine location to collect samples of the bacteria existing in the hellish environment

the bacteria ate him

he is described as a good young man and probably got caught up the excitement of Yellowstone....May God bless his soul and help his sister and his family through this awful time...

it was an accident....perhaps we should have a little sympathy for those who are naïve about nature's wrath...

its not like he died robbing a liquor store...
