Teleprompters are excellent when it’s actually a speech, with time constraints and points that must be made, and made well.

Well said. Trump has done a good job when he goes to the teleprompter. His speeches don't sound canned at all. Even with the teleprompters, he'll ad lib here and there to respond to the audience or expand on a point before moving on.
I agree, sometimes you cannot get all the points made along with other info when you do the rallies like Trump does. so once on awhile he needs to the prepared speeches, but he is getting better at it as he goes along.
