June 2016: Final primaries The final five primary contests will be held on June 7, 2016 in California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota, with California awarding the most with 172 delegates. Though pundits initially pegged California as an important primary, the suspension of the Cruz and Kasich campaigns make the California primary merely a formality at this point.

Trump will soon break the all-time record for votes in the Republican primaries set by George W. Bush in 2000 of 12,034,676 votes; after the May 24 primary in Washington, he currently stands at 11,674,995, less than 360,000 from setting the record.

I don’t put a lot of stock in this statistic as the population of the US in 2000 was 282 million and in 2016 it is about 322 million, about a 14% increase. A better stat would be delegate count.......
