Hi Kenny,
What does the “e” stand for in your tagline?
I’ve noticed other posters also have one letter in their tagline also, (different letters), and wondered what it stood for.
Is a SECRET CODE? Ha@ LOL : )
Actually I have no idea how the ‘e’ got there, some misstep on my part. But I don’t change it because it has a certain mysterious quality ;-)
When I was a little boardwalk I was very scarred of the WWW (Wicked witch of the West!) Now I’m just as frightened by the Wicked Witch of the Web. I will now refer to Hillary only as the WWW.
More often than not these days, there's a fresh new thread started by nikos1121 about whatever Trump event is happening later that day.
It's always good to see those threads in the morning. I know that the guy is some kind of doctor and only has time to post in the wee hours of the morning and then at the end of a long workday. Sort of like me except my job affords me breaks during the day to check out the Free Republic. So I get bonus time. But nikos1121 does not often have time to check in during the day. But I do appreciate his posts and he's built quite a community here. I am happy to be on his ping list and if he wants to start a ping list about stamp collecting, I might sign up for it even though I don't collect stamps. I used to collect stamps as a boy but when I joined the Marines, my mother sold them at a yard sale while I was in boot camp. Along with my baseball cards, my MAD magazine collection and all my 1970s rock albums!
Your impatience at not being taken off the ping list "right away - and snap to it" reminds me of the loudmouth patrons I see at coffee shops in the morning because the person behind the counter isn't fixing their drink fast enough - usually a complicated triple-mocha-half-caf-two- Splenda-skim-milk kind of drink and he's huffing and puffing and making all a fuss because the barista isn't moving fast enough.
But that's the way it goes. Well you kind of set yourself up for a little bit for good-natured abuse here on the Free Republic. Maybe I agree with your posts most of the time. This one I don't quite agree with. Not sure what your beef with nikos1121 is. Maybe you didn't like his proposed choice for vice president? I wasn't crazy about it and I gave him a bit of grief about it. But hey, people probably won't like my choice of vice president either.
thanks.. should be interesting
>>When I was a little boardwalk
Oh, Boardwalk, that is so cute.... a little boardwalk...ha.
If the Globalists prevail, she surely will bring on a Reign of Terror! We need to take shelter in the shadow of His Wings!
EEk! Run for the hills (or throw some water on it) : )
Hey Sam,
Here’s something I posted on another thread.
Might be worth a listen on one of your early morning commutes ;0) —
Here is a very good recent interview with
Senator Sessions if anyone has the Sound Cloud
app and the time. Its 56 min long but well
worth the time.
I believe Sen Sessions should be and perhaps
will be VP. He addresses how he met Trump,
immigration, and how and why he has come to
agreement with Trump on Trade policy.

How are you feeling? How long til your next torture(ah, er treatment)?
Most excellent news... while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, in 2012, I hitchhiked into Lake Isabella, for a resupply. Lake Isabella was ridiculously low that year, and it’s water level couldn’t have fared much better, for the following years of 2013, 2014, & 2015.
I made nearly a grave mistake while camping at Lake Isabella. I was breaking camp and pulled the stakes out of the ground of my tent. I then balked at leaving, deciding to sit and contemplate my plans for the day. Out of nowhere a dust devil struck. I closed my eyes and braced for it’s impact. Once the winds subsided, I opened my eyes only to discover that my tent had been swept airborne. At first I balked at chasing it, for it was high in the air and far downrange, plus people out on the water in their boats were looking at my self inflicted predicament, and I didn’t want to look foolish running after my tent.
I was immediately struck by the thought that my tent could wind up out in the middle of the lake if I didn’t do something. All I could do is run towards the tent and hope that it somehow slipped out of the funnel. To my benefit it eventually dropped to the ground, so I reduced my running pace. In the next instant it was airborne again, and the prospect increased for a water landing. I took off at breakneck speed and was rewarded by being in the right place at the right time when the funnel released my tent for the second time. Moral of the story- DO NOT leave your tent un-staked, no matter what. They are so lightweight now, that they are more efficient than a box kite is, for flying.
I stayed camped out at Lake Isabella, for a total of 5 days, broken up by a trail angel/good samaritan, that let me stay in the backyard of his house in town, an additional 3 days. He had lost the house in a divorce settlement, but continued to sleep in the alley, behind the house, in his car. He offered me a great spot in the backyard under a big oak tree. The house was vacant, but belonged to his ex-wife. Odd encounter, but fortuitous for me just the same.
I bought my resupply groceries at the IGA, then went across the street to a quasi park, to eat and rest. The park is the hangout for the homeless, and meth heads in town apparently. Anyway, I shared my food with them, before returning to the lake.
My ride into town, was by an 80 year old woman named Mary Barcik/Barcic? She is a legend in the hiking community, as she maintained a water cache about 20 miles south of the highway, that runs east out of Lake Isabella, down Kelso Valley Road. The PCT crosses Kelso Valley Road, heading northeast to Bird Spring Pass, where Mary Barcic/Barcik? maintained another water cache for the hikers.
She rode a motorcycle, from who knows where, out to these desolate spots, to drop off water jugs full of nature’s finest, doing so entirely through her 70’s.
The funny thing was, I’m standing out there on the highway in or near Welden, at an intersection, and I see this car pull up from the south, turning right, heading into Lake Isabella. I see that the woman is clearly elderly (a spry young 80) and I say to myself, THIS woman ain’t picking me up. He!! no. Not happening. No way Jose. And in the next instant, she swerves over and picks me up.
I am, as many other hikers are, blessed- by people that help us to reach our goal of trying to hike from Mexico to Canada. We call these people trail angels. Mary Barcic/Barcik? is the poster child for these good samaritans.
One last fond memory of Lake Isabella- there’s a diner on the west side of town that is famous with hikers for having a plethora of flavors of milk shakes. It’s name is a woman’s name... right on the tip of my tongue? I made the pilgrimage there, figuratively placing another adventure stamp into my travel passport.
Brush the comments off...I was told I was spoiling the surprise of Donald’s pick for Vice. It irked me because its my nature to throw out ideas and then enjoy other peoples take on my thought. People here often see things in different ways and there’s a lot of times I tend to jump into a thought and don’t think it through. I’m sure I get on several people’s nerves but that’s going to happened when we voice our opinions here.
Nik thanks for all your threads.
Some of this post was fun to read, shame on your mom. :>)
I don’t consider ANY of this as “good-natured abuse.” I also don’t give a damn about the rest.
Bottomline, none of this matters, because as soon as people quit posting to me on this thread, I’ll never be on another nikos1121 thread...I won’t even bother reading them...so everyone can go on and be happy again.
BTW, you guessed it correctly, but rather than give him grief, I chose to simply move on and not read any more of his junk. ;>)
I’m doing quite well, thank you!
I am officially in a chemically induced remission!! Yeehaw!!
Next torture is scheduled for September.
I had them put it off a few weeks so I can go to Charlotte in August to get a peek at my new grandson due to arrive the end of July!
The only ping list I wanted to be removed from was the Rush ping list. This was before Trump nailed down the nomination and some Cruz folks were still feeling froggy (I have a cold and my vocabulary fails right now.). Anyway, no matter how many times I requested, for some reason I still kept getting the pings. But it was no reason to be as rude as that jerk was to Nikos. Sheesh....... btw, still can’t listen to rush. I think this time he’s truly hurt his career by losing audience that won’t tune back in.
WOW! What an interesting read.
It often makes one wonder about the different people and instances that change our direction. You seem to be able to live the moment whereas most people are too caught up in planning ahead. I guess what it all comes down to is balance and knowing you are blessed. Great memories “Spider-Man” and thanks for your unselfish sharing.
Weston!!! Wonderful news about the remission. So glad for you.
