I’ve met Mexicans who claimed to be “ethnic Mayan”.
I was under the impression that the Maya were from about the area within and surrounding Argentina and Peru, just to name a couple of modern nations.
Not just south of the CONUS border.
However, as I said: I am not an expert. Awaiting some to chime in and enlighten us all at any moment. :)
