Ted Cruz For Senate
The Federalist ^ | June 3rd, 2016 | By Sean Saffron

Posted on 06/04/2016 11:07:51 AM PDT by Mariner

Lost in all the back and forth of the Republican presidential primary is a profound question for the conservative movement: “Whither Ted Cruz?” Let us not overlook a conservative powerhouse, with a proven track record of organizing actual voters across a wide swath of states, expertise at small-dollar fundraising, and the discipline to endure months of heckling by Donald Troll and his oafish minions.

Is no one else excited to see the next chapter for Cruz? If he so chooses, Cruz can be the conservative leader he was so often attacked for not being over the last few years. Now that he is no longer required to hedge his every position, craft every utterance for maximum flexibility, and throw inconvenient political groups under the bus, Cruz can focus on actually legislating and moving the American political center rightward.

As I argued last year (in an unheeded essay urging he stay put in the Senate):

Are you fighting Coryn’s, Corker’s, Portman’s, Snow’s, etc. re-election?

And, if so, what will Trump be able to accomplish with the democrats in control of the Senate?

I’m a Trump supporter, but I’m not stupid. We need to keep control of the Senate. That Supreme Court justice is the first and best reason, but everything else also depends on it.

“Is no one else excited to see the next chapter for Cruz?”

Afer the shameful spectacle he presented to the country in this primary, the only “excitement” I have is hoping he self-deports to Canada or Cuba! He is one of the most despicable polititians I’ve seen in all of my nearly 76 years! I’ll take Richard Nixon any day over sCruze! For me, his “next chapter” leads to permanent employment at a sewage treatment plant or as a men’s room “orderly.” He’ll do well in either spot, because there’s lots of $hit around. He will be “right at home!”

If the majority on FR doesn't like Cruz so much they don't even want him in the Senate

Ha! Cruz dug his own grave. The people who voted overwhelmingly for Trump also voted for Cruz in 2012. It's the same Tea Party conservatives and Sarah Palin that powered Cruz into his Senate seat to begin with.

So what does Cruz do?

He pulls an Obama rather than just staying in the Senate and fight. 2.5 years in the Senate, questions regarding his eligibility (his records are sealed, gee what a surprise), despised by the GOP leadership and Senate colleagues.

He only had gotten this far in the presidential race BECAUSE of Trump. If Trump hadn't existed, Cruz wouldn't have gotten past NH because the GOPe and their donors would have ordered him out of the race.

Then he blames Trump for the violence at a pre-planned rally in Chicago. Attacks Trump's wife via a superpac, then attacks Trump when the National Enquirer drops a bombshell about his mistresses.

Continues to drop hints to his sheeple that he'll make a play at the convention.

Cruz made his own bed. If he loses his Senate seat in 2018, that's on him, not on conservatives.

“I agree. I just hope Ted will put the country first above all else.”

Has he shown any indication of that at all? I think not.

Ted Cruz has become a liability for all associated with him and is unlikely to be reelected to the Senate seat from Texas.

Hey, the primary is over...Trump won...

Enough of this silliness...

Trump will need a man like Cruz in the Senate...

Or would you prefer a liberal in his seat ?

Well bye!

How can he be a “powerhouse” when he hasn’t accomplished anything in the Senate other than pissing his peers off and promoting himself?

While I admire him for going for broke to become president, I do not think his behavior is going to play well for his election. If you claim to stand on morals and integrity, either walk the walk or people are going to notice the hypocrisy.

We needed the Senator he was, now, a lot of people, myself included, think his high and mighty B.S was just that.

The last 6 months of Ted is enough for me.

Ted is not a Canadian Citizen.

He was, up until 2014 when he conveniently renounced it.

Why do people insist on getting that wrong.

Don't be a tool. Cruz is ineligible to seek the Presidency.

His mother was born in Connecticut. She was working in Canada when Cruz was born.

She moved to Great Britian in the mid-60s and received British citizenship. Then she moved to Canada prior to Ted's birth and received Canadian citizenship. Canada did not allow dual-citizenship at the time.

Her AMERICAN-BORN CITIZENSHIP

Voided when she moved to the UK.

While he was born in a Canadian hospital (because his mother lived there), his Canadian citizenship is just an afterthought.

Cruz was a Canadian citizen until 2014.

And, Cruz has ready dismissed his Canadian citizenship .. which leaves him as ONLY - AN AMERICAN CITIZEN.

Yes, now he's an U.S. citizen. But he's not a natural-born American that meets the jus soli requirement.

If all you said were actually true, then Cruz would not have sealed all of the records. The voting rolls for Canada contained his mother prior to his birth, and to be on those rolls she would have been an actual citizen of Canada.

Before you start calling names and accusing others of not knowing our nation’s laws, maybe you are the one who should review all of the facts before showing your own ignorance.

We’ve had enough of the Cruz battle in here. Let Cruz actually go back to the job Texans have been paying him to do, and if he performs that job well he deserves re-election. But we can be done with the childish name calling.

Probably because Ted failed to disclose that he was a officially a Canadian citizen until May 14, 2014; when he renounced said citizenship.

Generally, when people support a candidate they like to know things about them, say like dual citizenship.

Rumor has it here in Texas that there is an ex-Longhorn jock (currently a State Rep) looking to primary Cruz.

AND, for sure, the RATs are going to promote the hell out of San Antonio's Castro to take the seat from whomever runs for Cruz's Senate seat.

“And, if so, what will Trump be able to accomplish with the democrats in control of the Senate?”

Just about as much as we have had with the GOPe “running things!” Basically NOTHING! The problem we face is the need to get rid of at least half of the “so-called Republicans” in the Senate, Cruz included. And even half may not be enough, but it might scare the other a$$holes into working on an agenda the meets the people’s needs instead of their financiers.
