Muhammad Ali, the silver-tongued boxer and civil rights champion who famously proclaimed himself "The Greatest" and then spent a lifetime living up to the billing, is dead.
Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News. He was 74.
After a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening," Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News.
Yes I have fought my own sister! That’s what got me ready for boxing and other martial arts, which I did a good bit of.
Boxing: (not professional, 29-1
Other martial arts: not so good, but certainly not bad!
As Viet Nam combat vet (see my user name) I do not share your views.
He stood by his belief, he paid the price.
Those I scorn are people like Jane Fonda or the cowards that ran to Canada.
That’s a pretty good record, Nucluside! I did a few “tough man contests” and I won my only MMA cage fight (which was in Indiana).
Desert Rhino can’t take it when his hero is exposed.
Prove it didn’t happen.
You haven’t heard the racist crap that Ali’s Nation of Islam spewed?
Bingo, 82nd Abn Div, 70’-72’
Ali’s manager was Herbert Muhammed, son of Nation of Islam head Elijah Muhammed.
I didn’t do the cage thing. Now that is real fighting! I got too old before the blood and guts thing hit the scene, and I think I’m glad. Cheers!
The Religion of Ali is the term for the suckers who swallow and then regugrgitate whatever the leftwing media sells about their creation, the media-created fraud Ali.
I guess he couldn’t rope a dope death.
as far as Ali, the best that I can say about him is at least he went thru the system to get his CO status...he didn't run to Canada....
but I never liked his showboating and I hated the Cosell crap...I hate glorifying already obnoxious athletes.....
he was pretty young to die...only 74...
Mentioning Jimmy Young, (I never saw the tape but) the fight with Ali must have taken everything out of him. Prior to that, he had a 17-4-2 record. From the Ali fight forward, he had a horrible 17-14-1 record.
The sad thing was that both sides wanted to use Ali as a prop. According to one general Ali’s IQ was enough to disqualify him but when Malcolm X talked him into refusing it became so big that the government couldn’t back down.
Check your spelling on “regurgitate”, Mr. English major.
were they?......
Elijah Muhammed was the head of the Nation of Islam at that time. Not underling Malcolm X.
Yes but initially he was connected to Tony Rezko. It was Rezko’s first job in the US Back when X and CON Got along. Rezko job was over when he made the conversion to Nation of Islam. Apparently NOT a boxing manager a spiritual manager
