I bumped into him once, at a gun show in northern Virginia. He had a protective detail and Ken Cuccinelli (VA Gubernatorial candidate at the time) was with him.
Everybody kind of just ignored him. The protective detail were doing their job, but you could tell that getting to go to a gun show on company time kind of tickled them.
He was about the last person in the world I expected to see when I rounded the corner, I didn’t speak to him.
We were in New Orleans for a short vacation several years ago when I ran into my then governor, Haley Barbour and popped over to shake his hand. He and his detail almost acted like I was about to shoot him. He was on his way to a quasi “Tea Party” rally nearby.
