If wrong opinions could be made a cause for prosecution, then everyone would be in jail.
Pass this bill and it is a Go Sign for me.
I really wish I could leave.
I’m so glad that we moved out of California last June...
Bill of attainder?
Landmark California bill would allow prosecution of climate-change skeptics
It’s more than disgusting that a state would even consider something like this, let alone pass it.
Lysenkoism.
Don't forget these are the free speech folks.
Well, for them ... not for you.
Wow! Talk about book burning!
No one is allowed to think except the way we want them to think, which just happens to benefit the elites.
“Senate Bill 1161, or the California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act.”
Shades of Orwell’s 1984 book...The Minstry of Truth.
Only in Californicia could this begin and be supported by those who are totally brain dead.
Lysenkoism (Russian: Лысе́нковщина) was a political campaign against genetics and science-based agriculture conducted by Trofim Lysenko, his followers and Soviet authorities. Lysenko was the director of the Soviet Union's Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Lysenkoism began in the late 1920s and formally ended in 1964. The term Lysenkoism is also used metaphorically to describe the manipulation or distortion of the scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion as dictated by an ideological bias, often related to social or political objectives.[1]
The pseudo-scientific ideas of Lysenkoism were built on Lamarckan heritability of acquired characteristics.[2] Lysenko's theory rejected Mendelian inheritance, the concept of the "gene" and departed from Darwinian evolutionary theory by rejecting natural selection.[3] Proponents falsely claimed to have discovered, among many other things, that rye could transform into wheat and wheat into barley, that weeds spontaneously transmute into food grains, and that "natural cooperation" was observed in nature as opposed to "natural selection".[3] Lysenkoism promised extraordinary advances in breeding and agriculture that never came about.
The campaign was supported by Joseph Stalin. More than 3,000 mainstream biologists were sent to prison, fired, or executed as a part of this campaign instigated by Lysenko to suppress his scientific opponents. The president of the Agriculture Academy was sent to prison and died there, while the scientific research in the field of genetics was effectively destroyed until the death of Stalin in 1953.[3] Research and teaching in the fields of neurophysiology, cell biology, and many other biological disciplines was also negatively affected or banned.[4]
“Thought Crime ranks right up there with hate speech and that old, and no longer needed in the modern world, first amendment.”
That door was opened wide with the civil rights act back in the 60s. It’s just playing out into more areas of life.
Violation of the 1st amendment. Time to put traitors who’ve sworn an oath to the Constitution for prison.
They don’t care about the First Amendment nearly as much as they care about the ability to extract billions of dollars from the oil industry in the same way they did with the tobacco industry. That’s what this is about. Putting dissenters in jail is just an added benefit.
So the US Supreme Court has ruled in “Citizens United” that business entities have the right of free speech, so as to be able to give political donations...but, apparently, such “free speech” does not actually extend to...
...FREE SPEECH.
This is utter tripe, so incredibly and unbelievably unconstitutional as to defy all logic!
I would suggest that the 1st company that is prosecuted (and, since a company cannot be prosecuted, only its human officers and directors), that said company immediately initiate not merely an appeal to Federal District Court, but also a Section 1983 lawsuit against EVERY SINGLE PERSON involved in the prosecution for “deprivation of civil rights under color of law.” Let’s see how the SOBs like THAT. We’re talking about PERSONAL liability, something that is NOT protected by virtue of someone exercising government authority, because (if the case is proven), they will have acted OUTSIDE of government authority to abridge someone’s rights.

Thanks for posting the definition of Lysenkoism. The whole process of “climate change” follows every single aspect of Lysenkoism, proving again “there is nothing new under the sun.”
