“parents need to kick adult kids out of the nest at 18 or so ”
You’re living in the ‘70s.
Even a casually interested person can do the math of an ‘18 year old moving out of the house’:
$7.25 x 29hr.s = $210, $170 after tax.
Now with that $680 per month factor expenses:
-rent: $500
-auto insurance: $100
-utilities: $150
-food: $180
-gas: $80
-clothing and incidentals: $80.
Total monthly expenses for 18-y.o. moving out of the house: $1090
Budget: $680 - $1090 = ($410) per month.
Your point is illogical and inadvisable. No one should listen to you.
We realize that obama’s economic damage has been severe, especially in the job market Still -— Even with those figures, a roommate will make the budget balance nicely. (I did it this way, anyway. Worked just fine. Far Better than squatting at parents’ place for years and years _ at least we grew up and learned how to take responsibility for ourselves ). Best,
