You may be right. It's not something he's know to say like “folks”. He was reaching for something there and that stammering was his mouth attempting to disengage while his brain was searching for a racist code word. He found it.

May I opine, he said Okie-Dokie, so was he sort of referring to Merl Haggard's "Okie from Muskogee"? If I have it right that was sort of an anti hippie pro-troop song, it was Pro-America something that doesn't fit into his fundamental transformation as he continues extract his revenge on certain segments of America, You know like the squares that launched the Space Shuttle that he cancelled. So it was the best he could do is call us Okie's you know a bunch of hicks, the bitter clingers etc, add your adjectives without saying it.

Tangent to this, Trump has him rattled, I wouldn't be surprised if he looses it and drops the F word or worse in regards to discussing Trump. It is unseemly for him to campaign for Hillary this early, and in this fashion, not Presidential IMHO, but what else is new...
