Britain abolished the death penalty in 1965. (I was in college there at the time.))

The promise was that the penalty for murder would now be life, and we really, really mean it. I knew that what they actually meant was "life until some beeding-heart liberal finds an excuse to let them out and kill again" - but a lot of people believed this tripe, because thay had not woken up to the fact that Liberals Always Lie.

If their fellow inmates do what the courts failed to do - fiat iustitia!
