Pretty much, it’s all a matter of perception.
Like how lemmings don’t perceive the cliff until they’re in freefall.
I don’t think a US collapse would look anything like Venezuela.
Seems like the classic ‘normalcy bias’ comes into play. Of course, if the descent is slow enough, it becomes the new normal.
I’m sure you’re probably right.
Then again, unlike Venezuela, which is basically one culture, the US is a nation with many cultures. Some of those cultures are prone to blaming members of other cultures for their failures and position in life.
When the SHTF moment happens and half of American realizes that their food stamps and housing subsidies are done, it’s going to be a lot easier rationalizing popping some grandma on the street with a baseball bat if you’ve spent your life convinced that grannie is part of the group that’s been “keeping you down” your whole life.
