Yeah....gotta watch out for cordite. Unstable & acts like a sponge, IIRC.

Only .303 I use is Prvi Partizan. I buy their 6.5 Italian for the same reason. I own some really old smokepoles.

But for serious social work, it’s 7.62 NATO. Like the Army, I have re-fallen in love with the M-14 & its variants. Fired expert with it back in 1969.

As another poster already mentioned, your ammo may be loaded with cordite. I think it was in the 60’s when it was last used. I had some cordite .303 and there were plenty that didn’t fire. You may want to check out these pages to see what you have, or just pull a bullet and dump out the propellant. Cordite kinda looks like very fine angel hair pasta.
