Good old Ev Dirksen. He and Charlie Halleck were a different era. I can’t think of Everett Dirksen and not think of marigolds.
But Dirksen was also one of the fool Republicans who helped LBJ pass his civil rights act, imagining that benevolent government would only do good things with this new ability to thought police its subjects. Keep that in mind as little girls get to enjoy sharing their bathrooms with ‘transgendered’ males.
