Physicist Stephen Hawking bewildered by Trump
Politico ^ | 30th May, 2016 | Louis Nelson

For Stephen Hawking, the world-renowned expert in theoretical physics and cosmology, the success of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is a mystery.

Hawking called Trump "a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator,” during an appearance on the United Kingdom’s ITV network.

In addition to his scientific work, Hawking, who has a slow-progressing form of ALS, is a vocal advocate for individuals with disabilities. Trump drew criticism late last year on the campaign trail when he appeared to mock a New York Times reporter with a disability at a rally in South Carolina. Trump later denied mocking the reporter and said he had never met him.

During the same television appearance, Hawking urged British voters to vote in favor of keeping the U.K. in the European Union. The much-discussed “Brexit” vote is scheduled for June 23 and a vote to leave the EU would cost Great Britain in terms of its economy, national security and scientific research.

"Gone are the days we could stand on our own against the world,” he said. “We need to be part of a larger group of nations, both for our security and our trade."

You just gotta love it: “expert in theoretical physics and cosmology!”

“EXPERT in THEORETICAL.....”

The perfect description of a “heavy thinker...little dooer!”

What ACTUAL tangible accomplishments has he done?

I doubt he’s ever had the experience of his neighborhood turning into the OK corral, night after night, only to have all hostilities abruptly cease when a house full of illegal immigrants around the block is arrested enmasse and carted away on drug charges.

Dear Stevie

You need to read my book, "A Brief History of American Politics"

There you will learn the American People will only take so much abuse before they fight back.

It ain't rocket science.

‘”Hey Hawking, I’m smarter than you.

Your third rate debunked black hole event horizon is drivel.

Your single singularity proffered as the defacto start of all time - poop.”

Hmmmmm....you certainly post like someone smarter than Hawking.

He's also bewildered by how some people are able to chew their own food.I'll bet there's a connection.

You are so right. I know people who are brilliant in their area of expertise, but away from that they are astonishingly dumb.

Unfortunately, Hawking comes from a family of committed socialist-academic types, who never had a real job in their lives.

While his science-as-entertainment and personal brand have been very successful, it appears that the durability of his contributions to physics will be far less impressive.

I’ve read some of his books and when I was younger, I was fascinated by these brilliant physicist people, but I came to realize that these are all really, really deep theories with very little proven experimental evidence. I started to notice over time that they would find issues with a calculation on the big bang for example....and it would change the age of the universe by 10 billion years... or some other big error or new piece of info would massively change another calculation.

I think 80% of this crap is pseudoscience and designed to generate grant money.

The real physicists were people like Einstein and Richard Feynman who were brilliant and actually proved theories by creating the atomic bomb among other things.

This guy is an over rated by people who don’t believe in God IMO. He is very bitter. I see no element of original thought. IMO he is a fraud.

You know, I have thought about that clip of TRUMP that became so controversial.

I have seen him do a less exaggerated form of the same thing in a half a dozen rallies, when he is disgusted by someone’s hypocrisy or their idiotic remarks.

It seems to me that his gyrations come natural to him in those moments, when he is signaling intellectual or political idiocy on the part of his target. He mimics the idiot as such.

In the case of the disabled reporter, it was very early on in the campaign and he was cutting loose with his irritation, and then we find out that in this case, the target was actually disabled.

Now, he still occasionally comes awfully close to doing the same thing, but seems to take care to tone it down is all because of all the misunderstanding.

Also, another quirk, TRUMP speaks in shorthand, and only TRUMP supporters seem to get it.

For example, he said he’s “winning with Hispanics”. Well, he must have read of that report out of Los Angeles, where Hispanic American citizens were for him plenty big, and it shocked the writer to have to report that.

For TRUMP, and in my own opinion, he therefore *IS WINNING*, those Hispanics.

The total number among all Hispanics who are La Raza types is a very good question to investigate.

A lot of people confuse “educated” and “common sense”. They think their “education” means we are stupid since we don’t have it and they disagree with our opinions.

Some very educated people have designed the theory behind Venezuela. I bet they all claim to be right even today - and their education wasn’t on “space”.

Support for Trump bewilders him, but he’s just fine with leaders on his own continent importing millions of crazed, violent cultists.

Lots of space between them ears, Stephen.

“Exactly, what has he contributed? “

He wrote a book that SOLD 10 million copies and virtually NO ONE read.

That’s quite a feat. :-)
