Trump recently teased a 15 state strategy in the general, which include some where Republican nominees dont often campaign or consider swing states.
*Note the map is Fox News interpretation of what 15 states they believe Trump may have in mind and has not been confirmed as the 15 states Trump is referring to.
We have to win, and I want my energy to be put into the states where it could go either way . and were going to play heavy, as an example, in California. Now no other Republican they wouldnt even go to dinner in California. They wouldnt do it.
Many simple minded media talking heads have already expressed cynicism in this strategy, considering states like California and New York a waste of time. However, here are four specific reasons why they are dead wrong.

Trump may not win CA but by investing his time and money there, he is rallying a demoralized Republican Party in the state.
And he is showing he intends to go behind enemy lines instead of writing off large parts of America as “unwinnable.”
Trump wants to win and he is thinking ahead how to get to 270.
Even before Hillary has clinched her party’s nomination.
Great analysis that goes beyond the obvious “if the experts say Donald Trump is making a mistake, then it is they who are making the mistake.”
He will force Hillary to spend money in states that Dems thought was a lock.
Yup. The more Hillary has to stretch her resources, the more avenues of attack it opens up for Trump.
And Trump likes being on the attack.
Correct me if I’m wrong but money invested in states like New York and California where he has very little chance of winning is money he won’t have for states like Florida, Virginia, and Ohio where his chances are much better? Does he really think he will have that much money?
After the Oregon poll showing Trump beating Clinton, he should add Oregon to the list.
Agree - He is willing to fight on every front and his instincts have been faultless so far....Giving up now, while both Hillary and Bernie are really vulnerable would be a huge mistake.
If he wins NY, he won't need OH.
What was it he told Ivanka when she was little ? “ If you’re going to dream anyway , dream big!”
Trump is right to fight for voters in ALL the states.
Ceding state after state to the Democrats has made winning the Electoral College a lock for them.
Trump wants to reverse the defensive crouch that GOP candidates have exhibited for the past half century and go on the offensive.
Every state Democrats have to spent time and money in makes it easier for Trump to pick up some states to win.
And if you don’t try, you don’t win.
The know-it-alls have been consistently wrong to this point...that's a powerful track record.
Yup, when they say Trump will lose, they’ve been consistently wrong about him before.
Remember, he announced he was running for President when none of the polls gave him a chance.
And look where he is today.
Trump will send 20 million in California. Hilarity will have to spend 100 million. Red states are all going back to republicans.
Trump only has to pick off a Wisconsin, NJ, PA and it’s over.
>> Does he really think he will have that much money? <<
Of course. Don’t forget that he has said (a) that he’s worth more than ten billion and (b) that he can self-fund if necessary.
The article did not include perhaps the most important reason for the full-court nationwide press: Minion Romney lost the electoral college by fewer than 400,000 votes, of which 160,000 each were in VA and OH. In other words, if Trump merely flips 85,000 in those two states, he has a tremendous chance of winning. Minion lost FL by 73,000 votes, so a flip of only 37,000 adds that state.
Trump already leads in polls in NC and OR and OH, and is tied in PA and VA, so already the electoral map is very nearly in his favor.
As for Arizona, I didn’t think it would be close in 08 or 12 (it wasn’t) and won’t be close in 16.
He instinctively knows how to win.
And yet there was another thread where the Trump campaign said they were running low on cash.
