And I realized that by importing Muslims into the US, you import people who will not only spread terror but will erode freedom.

Why? Because with all practicing Muslims, they cannot assimilate to the rule of the Constitution as it is incompatible with Islam.

Why? Because Islam is a legal system as well as a religion that does’t allow religious choice and doesn’t recognize individual rigjts.

Per my initial post, this was said by his personal secretary. He sees him much more than others since he’s leading a non-public life. Terribly sad. I converted in part due to Pope B16.

the people of the Catholic church have absolutely no say on who gets appointed to what, when, or how, or where....

“the people of the Catholic church have absolutely no say on who gets appointed to what, when, or how, or where....”

So what you’re saying is that a few old birds in the Vatican control the whole church! They spend years “working their way” up into the church’ hierarchy and then they get to decide who your Pope is! I guess I’m glad I’m not a member, but then most churches are socialist/Marxist in their basic operation, so Catholicism isn’t any different than most of the rest. I won’t belong to any religious organization that’s run by mortals who tell you that you’re not good enouogh, but if youi give them money and do what they tell you, you might just be good enough to die and go wherever they tell you is the “good place.”

I’m anticipating another magnificent Polish Pope.

You’re always good enough for Christ.

Catholic charities tend to have the lowest administrative overhead. And you’re never obligated to help the local ministry pay its bills.

I didn’t say that the Catholic Church didn’t do a lot of good in the world, it does!
My son-in-law is Catholic. His mother, who is Japanese, was born in one of the US Internment camps during WWII. They all joined the Catholic Church when it helped them get through their imprisonment and their return to some semblence of life after the war ended.
