Like many pessimists, you think things will continue on an unaltered course, like billiard balls. History is never like that.
I plead guilty as charged to pessimism as charged regarding what remains of the West.
Of course you're right that what the future holds in store is unknowable, all we have to go on is what happened in the past and any lessons that might apply to our time.
