Delegates to the Republican National Convention will gather in less than two months and are expected by most to nominate businessman Donald Trump for president. But it's not quite so simple or certain Trump will still have one last sales job ahead of him, persuading the delegates to choose him at the convention before he can claim the nomination.
This is because each and every delegate has complete freedom to vote their conscience at the convention, including who the party's nominee should be. This may come as a surprise to many, particularly those who are reading about Trump's recent win in the Washington state primary and how close he is to "clinching" the Republican nomination.

Its that sorry ass Curly Hog-slop again running his mouth. He needs a good ass-kickin.
So, tell me where a convention ever rejected a first ballot winner!
Stop with this idiotic talk like any major political Party would reject the winner by the voters and just vote the way they wanted.
Still a few republicrats arguing for suicide...
The legal mechanism that allows Trump to be on the general election ballots in all 50 states as the Republican candidate for POTUS is being formally nominated by the Republican Party at their national convention. Without that formal nomination, state laws will not allow Trump's name on the ballots.
The national delegation is in charge at the convention. Not you. Not me. Not the rest of the voting public. Not the GOPe. Not the media. Not Congress. Not the judicial system. The delegates have all of the authority. They vote on the rules that govern the convention and they nominate a candidate for POTUS.
You can piss and moan all you want because you don't like what I'm telling you, but it ain't gonna change squat.
As for shennanigans, I said there won't be any. So stop tryin' to pick a fight.
Again, there are no legally bound delegates.
Really? Have there not already been shenanigans involving these folks in the Republican party throughout the primaries?
You suggest there could be shenanigans at the convention but there won't be? Funny stuff. You mean that's not really a threat towards Trump but it could be. ~
Btw, how do you define shenanigans? Would that be attempting to swindle a historic election and go against the will of the people?
What I said is that they are bound delegates and they are going to vote for the candidate they are suppose to.
Trump is the nominee-period.
I like looking at this Curly Haugland much better.
Yeah. I read it. So what?!?!
In no way does it negate my comment.
I will repeat, trust the GOP at your own peril.
...assuming they want to stay in Cleveland for the rest of their lives, that is...
You seem to have stepped out or evaded some questions. Lets try it again.
Have there not already been shenanigans involving these folks in the Republican party throughout the primaries?
Are you warning everyone the corrupt in the party still hold the power even through they don't hold the winning hand? No one buys that.
The above comment about more "Schannicagans" as you call them sound like a threat Tex, like they have some kind of ace in the hole or bargaining chip here. They lost Tex. They are the losers and Trump is the new boss.
You suggest there could be shenanigans at the convention but then turn around and say, "But there won't be"? You mean that's not really a threat towards Trump but it could be? Sounds like wishful thinking Tex.
Is this what your secretly hoping for? Do you not think America has had enough of of these corrupt delegate/caucus corruption and wide spread collusion in this election?
Btw, how do you define shenanigans? Would that be attempting to swindle a historic national election and go against the will of the people?
I’m not evading anything. I have a job. Work got in the way of my freeping. So, pardon me, Darlin’.
“Shennanigans” is a me thing like “prefect” is an onyx thing. (Courtesy ping b/c I mentioned her.)
I’ve said numerous times on this thread that there won’t be any shenanigans (feel better with it spelled your way?) So, no, it’s not a threat. It’s not a warning. It’s a statement of my opinion.
Trump has far more delegates than anyone else. He will be the nominee. Period. (I’ve also said that multiple times.)
You’re just itchin’ for a fight, but you ain’t gonna get one. There won’t be any shennanigans. The election won’t be stolen. Trump will be the nominee.
So stop poking me in the chest already.
Shennanigans is a me thing
I have no idea what that means. Sounds like an evasive thing to a legitimate question. Let me clue you in, there won't be any Shenanigans because Trump won and holds all the cards, not to mention tens of millions voting Republican supporting Trump. These, "full authority delegates" as you called them, hold no cards, no ace in the hole, and have no choices. They lost, and they have a new boss now.
As far as these delegates making threats somehow having the power to continue their collusion campaign in attempts to swindle the election, is not going to happen, so why mention it? At this point you can pop off about these, "Full authority delegates being capable of pulling shenanigans" (More fraud, collusion and corruption) but that's pie in the sky.
As I mentioned earlier, these crooks have all been thoroughly exposed in this election and the American people are in no mood whatsoever for continued Cruz/RNC style collusion and political yellow bile corruption.
Did you fall down and dent your brain pan? The national delegation holds all of the cards and has all of the choices. Fortunately for you, they'll make the same choice you did in supporting Trump.
You don't like that fact? So what. I don't care. You can rant and rave all you want. It changes nothing. The convention process has been the same for decades.
Yes, we’ve had the same corruption for many decades. It’s no secret and why our electoral process, the delegate/caucus circus of collusion will be changing and getting overhauled. Watch for big changes coming down in the future. Bet the rent.
Btw, what card is that? What is there big ace in the hole in regards to swindling this election and handing it over to yet another insider at this point? What are all these choices they have?
This article is total bull hockey. The delegates awarded to Trump are bound on the first ballot. Somebody been smoking da weed.
Hillary is eagerly and happily waiting for Trump haters to vote for her.
