Yeah. Bernie is a committed communist. He, like all others, feels that these failures just mean that communism wasn’t implemented correctly in those countries. Give him a chance, and he’ll implement it here. Of course, it will fail, and he will just say that we didn’t do it right, and that we have to try again, but this time implement a stronger version of communism.
Like all communists Bernie will sooner or later blame his failures on the remaining capitalists in the USA and he’ll inevitably put forth the argument that they need to be imprisoned or executed as ‘enemies of the Revolution!’
Socialism can only be imposed by force and the further a society goes down that road the greater the force required. Given enough time, and practiced with enough vigor, socialism always leads to the Killing Fields. It has no place else to go.

The only way, (to my mind), that communism as a concept ‘works’ when applied to humans is to fundamentally change humanity into a ‘Hive complex’ where each member of the hive has a job and does it without complaint or thought of disobedience.
