Trump asked some miners why they do not do something else—he said they answered “We love to go after coal”—says he never forgot that—they love what they do.
Says he wants energy independence, and to sell our energy to others..
Says he will get rid of some of the coal mining regulations.
He will free up the coal,put miners back to work, and the market forces will do what it does
You know exit, Trump is right about the coal miners. I went down in the Bethlehem Mine here in WV with a study group from Seminary in 91 and had the opportunity to interview one of the miners in the midst of coal being dug all around me with those huge machines and miners working like beavers. I asked him if he had ever done anything else.
He said yes, he had been laid off from the mine three years earlier and decided to take a job in PA. He said he had just that week come back to the mine because he missed it so much. He said it’s hard to explain, but the men, when down under, are a brotherhood, sort of like the military. Their lives depend on them watching one another’s back. He said they can not even like one another topside, but down under they are brothers. Being down there with them a mile under, I could understand the lure of the mines.
