That would be my guess as well.
My best friend was a Cobra Gunship pilot in Vietnam.
He was awarded his silver star for an action in 1968, he received the award about 8 years ago, Four days before his death from cancer.
Awards for clandestine missions would make sense. If a mission were secret, the award citation would be classified.
Revisionist history..FUB0!
I think you are correct. He is claiming those he was awarded, not just those he was awarded publicly.
“Theyre killing our heroes.”
Yes.
Truth
“with many WWII records missing from a St. Louis fire... MANY veterans have duly won awards that are not reflected in their surviving official records.”
This liberal concocted non-story is the top trending story on Facebook.
Good one TT
I went to high school and later a couple of years of college with a neighbor. He was older than me and served in Vietnam, We then attended Troy university. I would sometimes catch a ride home with him.
One day I was visiting and noticed his military awards on the wall of his den. I looked at them and there was among the others, a Silver Star. After reading the citation, I told him truthfully how much I appreciated what they did over there.
I really do think he appreciated it In fact the next time he came over he wanted to trade a Browning Challenger .22 for a .22 rifle. The base model of the Browning was the nomad and the challenger was really nice. Both the nomad and challenger were made in Belgium. He knew I was getting the best end of the deal but he insisted. We always seemed closer after that.
Maybe many people do not appreciate what they did over there.
I have Tennessee ANG medals to go with my Army Reserve and active duty USAF medals. It gets really confusing because I have to look at all three discharges to correctly get what I have earned and they are inaccurate.
