Thanks for the link. My sister and her family are on their 2nd German Shepherd (1st one had to unfortunately be put down b/c of cancer). I love my 4-legged nephew - GS’s are wonderful dogs. 1st one got to be 115 lbs, large for a Shepherd, the current one is about 85 lbs (purebred from a raiser in Canada - they got him from a friend who could no longer keep him). Both were/are so sweet and gentle with us, but I know if anyone tried to harm his family or even me they’d be all over the person in a big way (IIRC the biting power they have is something like 75 lb per cubic inch in their mouths). I’m going to dog-sit in a few weeks and looking forward to it.
My cousin was on the Seattle PD and for a while was a canine officer with a Shepherd. He had young children at the time and the dog was so great with them and those of us that came to visit. However, some of the stories my cousin has told about the dog on duty are something else. Dog was very instinctive about being home with family and on the job and how he acted during each such times.
