I’m sure baked beans made in a nice tearoom are better than Heinz. A friend of mine from GB who once stayed with us for 6 months, used to make us baked beans on toast which, although his version using the canned, was excellent. His chips were to die for. We’d go to Myers of Keswick in Greenwich Village to pick up wonderful English sausages.

The only baked beans I've seen in England have been a basic Heinz in what looks to be a tomato sauce. I try to copy my husband's cousin's recipe. Baked beans fortified with brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, dry mustard, and pepper topped with bacon and drizzled with ketchup then baked until they are thick. I love them on buttered pumpernickel, but you could almost serve them on ice cream!
