If this is true, Gingrich has just lowered himself in my estimation not that it matters, but I don't think I would be alone.
Gingrich is ultimately a failed official which is probably generally true with all career politicians. Gingrich has been perceptive, clear, and concise as a commentator and advisor. He SHOULD be advising whoever is listening that Trump's chief criteria for VP should be someone who can walk into the WH in eight years and advance what Trump started by dismantling 80% of the mostly unconstitutional $4 trillion central government.
If this is not about the American People and their sovereign states taking back their God-given political freedom by reinstating the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land against the feds then this is not about anything - it is a flash in the pan.
I agree with you.
I disagree strongly. I think his chief criteria for VP should be someone who can walk into the WH if something happens to Trump during his term of office. That's what the VP is for.
In the history of the United States, there have been only two sitting VPs elected to the White House. The last one was George H. W. Bush, in 1988. Before that it was Martin Van Buren, in 1836. (Source)
On the other hand, there have been 8 vice presidents who have succeeded to the presidency due to death or resignation of the president.
Too much can happen in eight years for that to be a criterion.
“someone who can walk into the WH in eight years and advance what Trump started by dismantling 80% of the mostly unconstitutional $4 trillion central government.’
Hopefully after 8 years Trump will have done that.
How many times in 100 years has the veep been someone good to take over? Other than Truman? I think most people are looking for the veep being someone that could take over anytime. The argument is always about the person being ready i.e. Quayle, Palin, Ryan just to name a few. I think Cheney and Biden did what they where supposed to do and add a little reassurance to the tickets. I think Trump needs this, plus someone with pull in DC as far as little helpful tricks of the trade. A governor, young congressman or affirmative action pick won’t do it. I’m for Newt, Sessions or Demint. Maybe others that fit the bill but I’m not concentrating super hard on it.
