Axing them what?
Some years ago I worked in Mexico City at the Centro de Lenguas, teaching English.
There was a young woman who also wanted to work at this same place, from the Bronx, who DID say "axe" for "ask." Needless to say, SHE wasn't hired on.
My 20-something year old brain and ear WRITHED at the sound. Yikes!
